What is Leadership Training for Christ?

LTC is a non-profit organization designed to stimulate and encourage spiritual, mental, and social growth among young men and women in grades three through twelve. Its mission is to achieve this growth by developing skills in leadership, Bible knowledge, and Christian servanthood. Participants will learn to live the servant leadership lifestyle.

Skill development in each of these areas is accomplished through participation in a variety of individual and group events. These events will take place within the context of a wholesome and supportive environment designed for the purpose of fostering enthusiasm and high achievement among the participants from the churches of Christ.

Bible Bowl

Team / Convention event

The purpose of this team event is to challenge students to achieve in-depth knowledge of God's Word. In their study, students will seek to gain a command of an important book from Scripture. Team competitions at the LTC convention (and at several meets prior to it) serve to challenge the students to make this knowledge as complete as possible. Teacher/coaches will assist students in gaining the necessary knowledge, but history has proven that the most knowledgeable young people get coached at home by Mom and Dad.  back to top

Bible Quiz

Team / Convention event

This event is similar to Bible Bowl in its detailed study of a Bible book, but does focuses on teamwork instead of individual performance. No individual scores are kept in this event; only a team score. Each team of four is given a series of quizzes to complete in a given amount of time. They work together to answer these quizzes (some are closed Bible and others are open Bible) in a given amount of time. The awards are then given with golds going to those teams who score 90% or above, silver to those who score from 80% to 89%, and bronze to teams scoring from 70% to 79%.   back to top

Bible Reading

Individual / Pre-Convention event, Convention event

An individual event that the LTC teachers encourage every young person to participate in. This event is designed to provide an opportunity for young people to motivate one another and develop skills through the oral reading of the scripture. The students in pre-convention Bible reading read Bible passages publicly at their home congregations.   Those participating at the convention are a part of Bible reading - extemporaneous;   a few minutes before their reading, they are given a passage from the Old or New Testament that relates to this year's theme. The reading must have an introduction which must be no longer than 30 seconds, and the entire reading should last from 1 to 2 minutes. The LTC teachers will help each student to prepare, but it's good if the kids get a chance to practice at home also.  back to top
